This extension collects no personal data. There are no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no third parties.
What data is handled
The only data the extension handles is the list of domains you type in yourself. It is
stored through the chrome.storage.local API, that is, in your own browser's
local storage.
Where it is stored
On your machine only. That list never leaves the browser: it is not sent to any server, not the author's and not anyone else's. Uninstall the extension and it goes with it.
What it does not do
- It does not record your browsing history.
- It does not read the content of the pages you visit.
- It uses no cookies, no pixels and no analytics tools.
- It shows no advertising.
- It sells, transfers and shares nothing with anyone.
- It asks for no sign-up, no email address and no identifying data.
Why it asks for permission on all sites
To block a site you have to be able to intercept the request to that site. Since you
choose the domains yourself and they can be any of them, the extension declares permission
over all URLs and applies declarativeNetRequest rules. Chrome itself resolves
that mechanism: the extension never sees the traffic, it only tells the browser which
addresses to redirect to its own blocking screen.
Single purpose
The extension has a single function: to block the sites the user specifies and show, in their place, a message reminding them why they decided to.
